Overview

We visited this National Trust site to check out the accessibility. Free Blue Badge parking and no entrance fee! You can hire the free Tramper mobility scooter (Booking required). The main route from the car park is quite rough in places, and would be a challenge for small powerchairs or self propelled manual chairs. I had my all-terrain powerchair which had no problems. Once at the rocks, other paths lead off, consisting of resin bonded surfaces or hard packed gravel. There is a disabled toilet of reasonable size next to the cafe kiosk. Take care of the lip leading from gravel onto paved area. I thoroughly enjoyed roaming around in my chair. There are some pathways which are inaccessible to wheelchairs, but not enough to warrant not going. It is a stunning visual area.

I drove my own car which has rear ramp access. There are about 6 designated blue badge spaces allowing plenty of room. The car park surface is loose gravel.

Toilets

The accessible loo is situated at the cafe kiosk which is 550 metres from the car park where the main centre of the site is located. I got my big powerchair in but as usual it was not easy getting from the loo to the sink and then to the hand drier which is nowhere near the sink! It was clean and tidy. There would be room for a carer subject to chair size. The toilet also doubles as a baby change, providing a handy fold down table if you need it.

Staff

There were two staff members at the car park reception desk. They were both very welcoming and helpful, providing information and a map of the site with accessible paths marked on it. I didn't speak to anyone at the kiosk site.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

There were hand sanitizers outside the toilets. Being a open air attraction it felt very safe.
