Overview

This lovely café, which is part of Crystal Palace Station, serves wonderful cake and has adorable staff. But the entire dining area is up a flight of several steps. If you're a wheelchair user, you'll be able to get inside as far as the counter, and if the staff are as sweet as they were on the day of my visit, they will arrange a little table at this bottom level of the café for you and your friends, opposite the counter - a bit cramped, but perfectly OK.

Transport & Parking

5

Several bus routes will drop you off nearby, and the magnificent, recently restored Victorian station is fully step free, served by both suburban railways and by the London Overground system.

Access

3

The entrance to the café is step-free and you can get to the counter, which is extremely tall, towering high above anyone sitting in a wheelchair, and it's hard to see the food on offer, but the staff will tell you everything about the food. If you want to eat and drink inside the café, you will be faced with a flight of several steps to the raised dining area, but staff should be able to arrange a small table at the bottom level of the café, opposite the counter, for you to sit with your friends. It's not perfect, it's a bit cramped, but you could also say it's cosy.

Toilets

0

There is no toilet of any sort in the café, but the station of which the café is part has an accessible toilet on the train side of the ticket barrier.

Staff

5

The staff were friendly, sweet, and keen to be helpful. Full marks!

Anything else you wish to tell us?

If you get a chance, peep into the café's store-room. The door to it, opposite the counter, is often used by staff popping in and out to fetch stuff, and it's a huge and fascinating part of this magnificent station.
