My Favorite Place to go a holiday to

I have visited Kielder many times over the years. I always have had a brilliant time there everything is kitted out for someone who has a disability. I hired a beautiful wooden chalet for a week , it has plenty of room if you are in a wheelchair, it has an overhead hoist in one of the beautiful bedrooms. Also a wet floor bathroom which is a good size. On site they have activities geared for wheelchair users like a Zip coaster which is Europe's longest. Buggies ride through the beautiful forest of Kielder you get to see the lovely wildlife . also if you fancy a swim , there is a good hydrotherapy pool with hoist, in the centre, which you can book out for a hour. There are a lot of nice drives nearby the centre and I enjoy the walks too, and mostly all are accessible by wheelchair. Kielder has a man made dam and there are nice gift shops and cafes down by the water. Calvert Trust has many chalets on site but I recommend the top chalets if you want an amazing view. Also a bit more accessible if you require hoisting.

A great disabled activities week with care provided.

My second visit staying in the main building. The care provided met all of my needs. The activities enjoyable and the scenery on the walks superb. I have swallowing issues which were well catered for by the chefs.

    Secluded and peaceful

Peaceful location and good lodge but if you're looking for activities you'll possibly have to drive. McArdle is a lovely lodge but at top of a hill so could be challenging for less mobile or manual chairs. Good wet room and you can borrow a shower chair. No profiling bed and carpet in both bedrooms can make using hoists / standaids a bit harder than hard floors.
