    Cambridge American Cemetery & Memorial

    About

Cambridge American Cemetery & Memorial is the only US Second World War Cemetery in the UK, which honours the service, achievements and sacrifice of young American men and women. There are nearly 4000 individuals buried in the grave plots and a further 5000 names are inscribed on the Wall of the Missing. It is the longest such wall in any of the European American Second World War cemeteries. The setting is beautiful, on a hill overlooking the flatlands of East Anglia and the landscaped grounds have Grade I listed status. There is a large Memorial Building with an inter-faith chapel. This building has large maps depicting the US objectives during the war and an amazing and colourful ceiling mosaic. A recent addition is a 4000 sq ft Exhibition Centre, which puts the American contribution to the war efforts of the Allies into perspective and tells some of the personal stories of those commemorated at the cemetery.
