    About

Carmyle Railway Station is a key transport link located in the Carmyle area of Glasgow. This station serves the Whifflet Line and provides regular train services toward Glasgow Central and Motherwell. It is a practical starting point for those looking to explore the city or visit nearby local green spaces such as the scenic Tollcross Park and its famous rose gardens.

    Accessibility Highlights

Carmyle Railway Station is classified as a Category B1 station, offering step-free access to both platforms via a system of ramps and a connecting road bridge. Please note that these ramps are described as long and steep in some areas. There are induction loops available at the customer help points on the platforms to assist visitors with hearing impairments.

While there is no dedicated station car park, the station features an impaired mobility set down and pick up point on Carmyle Avenue. It is an unstaffed station, so visitors requiring assistance with boarding should use the on-platform help points to contact staff or make themselves visible to train crew. Ramp-athon

Considering the general lack of access at suburban Glasgow train stations, I was happy to simply have a way to access both platforms at Carmyle from roughly the same locations as a wheelchair user. Still, 60-metre-long ramps are still not the easiest way to access a platform. There are even spots close to the tops of both ramps that could function as drop-off points, albeit lacking seating and only when you are driving South. It is not so handy for parking or taking the bus North, though.
