A bright sunny but crisp April visit to our favourite Coworth Park hotel, Ascot, brought us here for our lunch time wonderful dining experience. A very pleasant drive from the main entrance took us up to the hotel, warmly greeted by the welcoming front of house staff, who would take our car off our hands and safely park it for us in their carpark. Being disabled, this service was more than appreciated. We were particularly pleased with the exceptional support of Peter Jones of the front of house team who saw to all our needs, including the charging of our EV car, and safe delivery of the car. A young man who will do well in the hospitality trade. Reception team took good care of us and escorted us into the Drawing room for a quick pick me up drink and a comfortable relaxing well earned sit down following our two and a half drive. It was so heartwarming to meet up again with young Matthew of the hospitality team who had taken such care of us when we stayed for our 62nd anniversary a few months ago, such a pleasant hard working young man who will be a great asset to Coworth Park. The front of house team now arranged our buggy to take us over to “The Barn restaurant” for our pre booked lunch time meal. And we must congratulate the chef for another well presented and delightful experience. My wife choose a simple starter of very nice huge green olives while I had the mackerel starter, a beautifull soft gentle fish with a strong flavoured sauce of which I personnaly felt took away the flavour of the fish itself, but no complaints offered. We followed this by a most tasty Cornish Cod which was both not only tasty but also delightfully crispy battered, one of the best fish and chip lunches we have tasted. Both the French fries and the chunky triple cooked chips were beautifully cooked and presented, golden brown with a welcoming crispy texture, which will not be forgotten quickly. A soft peach Melba followed, with a rich but sweet raspberry sauce, of which our full of chocolate flavoured Hot chocolate took that sweetness away. It would have been more welcomed if it had any warmth in the glass, but that coldness is typical of so many coffee houses nowadays. But full marks for the experience itself, well worth our forthcoming long drive home. The buggy, ordered for us by the restaurant team, arrived to take us back to the hotel itself, with a pleasant drive around the grounds, and we sadly noticed that the Polo game played today had just concluded, and I would have loved to have had the chance to watch the game for a few minutes. Then sadly, the team unloaded my wheelchair off the buggy, delivered our car to the front door, loaded the wheelchair into the car, and waved us goodbye.
