Good
Lovely paths to explore alongside Derwent Water, within walking/rollin distance of Keswick town centre. Large car park nearby. Mix of tarmac, gravel, firm dirt, hard stone and boardwalk. I was on electric scooter and easily did 8km after a day of continuous rain, so drains/dries easily. Beautiful scenery over the lake or back to the mountains to the north. It was easy to pass others on almost all paths. Became less busy the further I went from the car park. There were a few gates but they were light enough for me to operate from my chair. There were a number of benches if you needed a rest.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
It’s all relatively flat so depends on your level of mobility. I was in my electric wheelchair and it was fine. So god I did it 3 times in 3 days!
Parking & Transport
Excellent
Loads of blue badge spaces near the start at the lakeside car park. Follow signs from main road.
Accessible Toilets
Good
There is a cafe at the start that is accessible and new so I’m hoping they’d be ok.

Thank you for the photos so that I can see the terrain. My husband is a manual wheelchair user so he may need to use his trike but it looks beautiful. Thank you.

Thanks for the review. I also use a motorised wheelchair and went in August 2026. I found the paths around the lake very accessible. They are solid and wide, taking you to beautiful views across the lake. There's a nice and accessible cafe/bar next to the Theatre on the Lake at the start of the walk/roll. The accessible toilet in the lakeside car charges 50p to get in - not helpful as I don't use cash any more.
