Finally an accessible beach!!
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Hidden Impairment, PMLD
Absolutely fantastic beach wheelchairs for ‘hire’ (there isn’t a charge but they welcome donations) There are quite a few chairs which would suit a range of different needs, and are available for adults and children. You collect the chair inside a building, which has a brand new, large mobile hoist. The building is right on the front and there is a medium gradient slope down to the beach. We borrowed a chair for a couple of hours (they look after your wheelchair if you want them too) It’s best to book (on the phone) but I think you can just turn up and ask at weekends. It’s a new project and they are hoping to get a Changing Place Facility in the future. All the volunteers are very friendly and helpful - they seemed to genuinely care and want to help, without being patronising.
Transport & Parking
Large car park right next to it, with accessible bays. We used the postcode for the New Boston Hotel opposite and found it easily.
Level access, no problems getting in - and we managed to negotiate the way out in the big beach chair!
Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. They were really welcoming and chatted to my little girl while we were getting her into the beach chair.
