Good
This mental health charity is open and spacious enough for members in wheelchairs to come in & have a nice nutritious lunch at a low price, Wheelchair users can also use our lift to get upstairs & can take part in various activities if they wish, The garden is needing a bit of attention & the doors can be a little heavy sometimes but they have staff who take on the first aider & fire warden roles. Lighting is good but it can be a little noisy.
Disabled Access In and Around
Good
There are a few steps but we have a separate ramp down to the cafe and a ramp in the garden behind the cafe for wheelchair users, we also have a lift to reach the upper level. There is enough space to suit numerous wheelchair users & we have some different coloured see through plastic sheets to help dyslexic people read. We can also print large text documents when needed & all of our computers & laptops have the magnification function to make text larger if needed. We also have a large projector & screen, lighting is good in the building, we have co2 monitors & there are separate rooms for private discussions if needed.
Parking & Transport
Good
There is ample parking at the front of the building but no disabled parking or specific drop off points, taxis can be ordered and are given priority so arrive asap. There is a train station nearby with a lift however some pavements are not lowered for wheelchairs, there is also a bus stop nearby however it is not an ideal crossing.
Accessible Toilets
Good
There is a disable toilet with handrails & lowered sink, mirror, paper holder & dryer, it has enough space for a wheelchair user & a carer should have enough space also. it is cleaned & stocked regularly. has a lock & hook for hanging items.
Staff
Excellent
Staff here are helpful & friendly towards members & especially attentive towards people with additional needs such as a wheel chair user or frame.
Additional Information
touch points are wiped down as frequently as possible, hand gel is still available & facemasks, PPE is used in the bathroom & kitchen & hygiene is to a good standard, there are precautionary covid test kits upstairs. tables are wiped down regularly, crockery is cleaned & sterilised after use.
