Overview

We chose to go to Frizzante as the online menu looked very different and had a strong sense of originality about it. Whist the decor the furniture looked old and tired that didn’t detract from the culinary quality of the food. Certainly, the fact it was family owned and managed came through in the way customers regular or new were greeted and engaged throughout. There were areas for wheelchairs and power chairs if required, and assistance dogs welcome. * if your looking for a quick meal, Frizzante cook everything to order and it can take a bit longer when they are busy as they were when we visited.

Access

Signage to the restaurant is discreet but clear, with a chalkboard with items from the menu. Entrance is up a minimal step, Frizzante, is very narrow and compact location, but suitable for wheel and power chairs. Seating is made up of conventional tables and chairs as well as bench booths. There were no formatted menus available but the owner did offer to read the choices to me.

Toilets

There was a disabled toilet at the rear of the restaurant which the owner informed us of, but we didn’t use them so unable to comment.

Staff

We were met at the front door by the owner and directed us to seating that would accommodate us and the mobility aid. Couldn’t have been more friendly, courteous and attentive throughout, this complimented the food experience we had. All the food was homemade, down to the lovely baked bread, our chosen courses were cooked to perfection - no frills just simple cooking. This was reflected in the taste. What was particularly good for us, garlic wasn’t in everything and only added to dishes that needed it. It was nice to dine where you weren’t rushed in any way.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

All staff continued to wear masks. As said it is in need of a refurb, but looking at in context, many restaurants of a similar presentation produce very good food. We would visit again and will probably do so at lunchtime.
