Overview

A pleasant surprise, not a bad little hotel, tucked away below lovely hillside views. It is a nice hotel, but not really wheelchair friendly, ok if you can walk on your own. It looks attractive when you arrive with many trees lining the car park (photo 1) but your first challenge is to get down to hotels entrance (photo 2) but hidden away at the end of a line of cars you will find a slope leading down (photo 3) which will take you along towards the entrance (photo 4) but it is a rather steep hill. The entrance has automatic sliding doors and is on the level, and you enter a pleasant reception area (photo 5) where we were warmly greeted by willing staff. From there in though you will find many steps to wherever you want to go (photo 6) so you will need to use the ramp just by front entrance (photo 7) which is a bit steep. You will then pass the disabled toilets (photo 8) which were clean and tidy with grab rails, and you will be able to get a chair inside (photo 9 The passage will continue towards the bar (photo 10) and the whole lounge looked very inviting, spotlessly clean and spacious, with comfortable seating areas (photo 11). At the far end you will find the restaurant (photo 12) again very nicely decorated with plenty of seating that a wheelchair can cope with (photos 13 and 14) but we found a comfortable little spot up by the bar where we ordered a drinks (photo 15). Bedrooms are just beyond a small passage (photo 16) and the whole building looked clean and tidy (photo 17) and although it’s looking a bit tired in one or two spots, it’s still a nice hotel to consider if wanting an overnight rest. We were not able to see any bedrooms as hotel busy cleaning rooms and most were occupied. OUR FINAL THOUGHTS It was a nice hotel, but when you get into hotel it wasn’t really wheelchair friend as you had to go out again and up the outside ramp to get to bar and restaurant, which if it was raining would not be so good, you would get soaked. But once in there it was very nice, alright for a short visit like ours, just to get a drink. We would not recommend this hotel if you are unable to walk and climb a few steps to get up to disabled rooms.

Transport & Parking

3

Gloucester itself is quite a nice little town, most places are clean, the ride was interesting enough, houses are well looked after, a town to be proud of itself for helping residents have a clean area to live in. We were able to park quite close to hotel, although disabled entrance is up a steepish ramp.

Access

3.5

Once up the ramp to get into hotel, you can move about reasonably well, bar and restaurant is on the level on first floor after you go up the outside ramp.

Toilets

3.5

There are public disabled toilets, up and along the outside ramp, which were easy to find, and very clean and well looked after, with hand rails if needed.

Staff

Nice people, willing to help us, reception more than kind and helped us see what we needed to.
