Overview
The venue was small and busy with tables blocking many of the ways through the building. The toilets weren't great. Staff could be better trained.
Transport & Parking
Grassmarket parking available but there is still quite a walk to the entrance. There a some bus stops reasonably close.
Access
There were tables blocking parts of the ground floor making it difficult for me to get around myself, but the corridors were wide enough to allow me to pass people.
Toilets
The toilet was large, with plenty of space for my electric wheelchair. The lights go out automatically after a few minutes (even though I was still moving). There is also no mirror in the accessible toilet, which meant I couldn't check my makeup.
Staff
Staff were friendly and understood my concerns about the accessible toilet and said they would pass them onto the venue owner. Sadly they spent most of the time talking to my PA and not me.
Venue Manager responded to this review
Hi Claire. Many thanks for your visit and for leaving a review. We're sorry you had difficulty getting around the project - we are a bit short on space at the moment due to becoming a Fringe festival venue and losing some of our café area to the Fringe bar. However we will try to rectify this during August, and hopefully if you come back after the Fringe you will find our usual layout to be better suited. We will be adding a mirror to the accessible toilet as we agree that it should have one, and we apologise that this had not been addressed for your visit. We do actually have an accessible lift to the upper floor - perhaps the staff you spoke to were unaware of this as we have just taken on temporary staff for the Fringe. We apologise for the confusion. Thank you again for your review and we hope to see you back at the venue in the future!
