Gunning for some Quaytime Shopping
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Mobility Scooter
Gunwharf Quays, opened circa 2001 on the HM Gunwharf site (which was basically a place for munitions etc) and forms a very large shopping mall. There's a 1,450 car space underground car park with plenty of blue badge spaces. The APNR system is technologically advanced and supposed to help you find a space, providing it knows you want a blue badge space - I just turned right after getting my ticket. Shock horror, blue badge holders pay as well so it's £2.90 for minimum payment. Not knowing Portsmouth, I went for the easy option but you can always park double/single yellow lines if you know where to go. You'll find 90+ shops and 30+ food outlets, a 14 screen cinema, casino, night club and 26 lane bowlplex! The shoppers paradise is also the location for Spinnaker Tower, the 110m high view point. I did not use the toilets but there were several dotted around.
Transport & Parking
it got 4 stars due to having to pay full price. Bays are well marked and plenty of them, although i visited mid week and parking was busy. The good thing is once you've paid the barrier rasies without the ticket being inserted.
excellent access, some bumpy surfaces down near the marina (well they were for my small wheeled scooter). Signs are tall, and I found them not very helpful. You can't get lost, with it forming a square of "streets". There appears to be an upper level but i did not go and nor did I see a way other than stairs. Lifts are medium size, and buttons at correct height for chairs.
I dont know, I didn't use them.
The security guys are on the ball, one saw me struggle with an umbrella and came over to help.

Shoppers paradise. Portsmouth's answer to Regent Street, just bring plenty of money
