Wetwheels Hamble

Based on the River Hamble near Southampton we run Experience trips on our high powered motor boat. Each of our Full Experience trips is around 90 minutes long and ten participants can come on the water with us at any time, including up to three wheelchair users. Trips typically begin with a slow 6 Knot cruise down the River Hamble, to allow participants to get used to being on board, followed by time spent on the open water either Southampton Water or the Solent depending on weather & Sea State. We also run shorter Taster trips of about an hour and special trips including Halloween, Easter, Pirates for our younger guests, Sea Breezes for our older client group, Remembrance and we work with School SEND units to develop skills. All participants can drive, and we have specialist adapted controls to make this possible for people with impaired mobility, vision, or height restrictions. This includes those people whose disabilities are of a profound and complex nature. We believe no other organisation in the world can deliver a comparable experience to a Wetwheels trip. The experience is fast, fun and inclusive. This builds the confidence of disabled people, expands their horizons and opens their minds to new possibilities. It also demonstrates to able-bodied people what disabled people are capable of in a well-designed, supportive environment.
