GVB Amsterdam Trams

We visited Amsterdam for a couple of days and stayed on a campsite in Zeeburg. I've never really used public transport but it seemed like the trams were the only realistic option to get into the city. I was really anxious about it but I needn't have worried! It was very easy. Almost all the trams have level entry. There are just a few stops where wheelchair access isn't possible. Boarding was simple and there are spaces for wheelchairs just inside each entrance. The attendant is in a booth at the entrance and they make people move if the wheelchair spaces are blocked.

Cobbles, pavements and some steep bridges make the historic heart of Amsterdam quite challenging for wheelchair users, but the extensive tram network offers a way of getting round the city and into some of its suburbs which is accessible to wheelchair users. Some trams are fully accessible, other (older models) have one wheelchair accessible entrance in the middle of the tram.
