Small, simple gardens with interesting memorials

Hamilton Square Gardens in the sun. There is a lot of grass and you can also see the war memorial and central memorial sculpture

Overall Rating

Good

This was a very simple and lovely park with places to sit and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. There were four pathways from each corner of the park leading to the centre, where there was a large memorial sculpture. The paths were wide and smooth and there were benches on each pathway. The entrances from the street were all smooth with no steps or lips to enter the park and no gates or other structures to navigate.

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

The entrances to the park were all connected to the surrounding streets with no steps, lips or gates to navigate. There were four paths leading from each corner of the park into the centre where there was a large memorial sculpture for Queen Victoria. The paths were wide, flat and smooth throughout. There were wooden benches on all of the pathways which had backrests but no arms. There were a number of statues and memorials in the park, at the centre was a tall structure that was a Queen Victoria memorial. On one side was a statue of John Laird with some information about him and on the opposite side of the park to that statue was a large war memorial.

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

There were some parking options on the streets surrounding the park. Some were permit holders only, some were disabled bays, some were pay and display. It’s best to check the signage before parking. There were two bus stops located on one side of the park where the following bus services were available: 41, 216, 217, 410, 413, 414, 423, and 811. The park was roughly 200 metres from Hamilton Square metro station which is on the Wirral line.
