I visited the Hard Rock Cafe with my brother over the weekend and was pleased with the access and friendliness of staff.

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

Level access into the restaurant and to the toilets. The restaurant is quite dimly lit and music plays at nighttime. We visited at around 4pm so it was slightly quieter than normal. The restaurant is table service so no need to go to the bar to order.

Parking & Transport

Average

George Street is parallel to Princes Street which is the main shopping street in Edinburgh. Many buses and the tram runs through here. There are some drop off spots on George Street but I am not 100% sure where parking spaces are

Accessible Toilets

Average

Decent accessible toilet but let down by the stacks of highchairs outside the door and the large bin inside. If these were away it would be a 4/5. The toilet is at the back of the restaurant and is a sharp left turn which, when there are obstacles, can be a bit difficult. Inside the sink has appropriate handrails and there is a Red cord, however this was tied up when I visited and took a photo. After taking a picture I untied the cord but did not have a Red Cord Card sadly. There is no Changing Places, the nearest one would probably be at the The Booking Office pub at Waverley.

Additional Information

When you arrive at the restaurant you queue in one way and then your temperature is checked. The queue was split so people could enter and exit either side. This space was too small for my wheelchair so staff moved the ropes to let me in which was fine. You also have to leave details for Track and Trace. You can scan a QR code to access an online menu or else use a disposable one at your table. You’re encouraged to wear a mask when you are away from your table and going to the toilet.
