High Force Waterfall

Booked tickets easily online, which were very reasonably priced. Spacious car park across the road from the entrance. My Permobil wheelchair had no issue with the kerb which is mentioned in other reviews. The friendly guide on the gate told us what was ahead of us and off we went! The hard, wide fine gravel track was easy to navigate and gave excellent views of the waterfall as we approached. Unfortunately wheelchair users can't get quite as close as ambulant folk, but still the view is definitely worth going for. We then retraced our route to get out, whereas walkers can take a different path with steps. There is a good sized accessible toilet in the car park and a take away kiosk by the entrance.

We stayed overnight in our motorhome at this venue and then did the walk as soon as it opened in the morning (10:00). It was challenging for me, but more because I have a phobia of nettles than because of wheelchair access. I had checked out the quality of the path before deciding to visit and had come to the conclusion that, being quite a short walk and a firm surface, I would be able to manage. I used my normal wheelchair with Freewheel.

There's a woodland walk from the car park (charge payable) down to the viewpoint. Crossing the road from the car park requires a bit of help as there's no dropped kerb on the far side and no crossing (so care needed spotting cars, which travel quite fast on this section of road). There's a bit of a bump in the first bit of path, but after that it's a gentle trundle on firm paths more or less all the way down - only the very last short section is inaccessible (steps). Spectacular waterfall. Charges apply - buy tickets in ticket office in car park.
