Dinner and a show with an overnight stay.

This was our second visit to the hotel and we were looking forward to see if some of the suggestions we had made in our previous visit had been carried out. The accessible room is in the Hotel annex the Kings Mills club which is at the other side of the car park. The room is extremely spacious with two bathrooms one normal bathroom and one wet room. This is the first hotel I’ve ever seen that did this. With ample space to move around the room the bed height let the Hotel down again as trying to transfer from a Wheelchair onto a bed that is around 30 cm higher than your own seat is extremely difficult with or without a transfer board. The mattresses could do with replacing, they have put a memory foam topper on the mattress which not only made the mattress even higher but didn’t increase the comfort any. The hotel is extremely accessible with ramps and elevators taking you to the various levels. The accessible toilets are large and easy to get in and out of. The disabled parking bays are close to the front door of the hotel and they have space at either side of the bays.

    Spa weekend

We booked this hotel for a nice spa break in the city of Inverness, from the outside. The building doesn’t look grand however, upon entering the facility it is in nice grand hotel. We were accommodated in the annex, this is situated on the other side of the car park and it is also where the spa is situated. We were given a disabled access suite which was large with ample wardrobes and storage. The room had a refrigerator And minibar/snacks available in your room which was a nice touch. The room had two bathrooms, one full size bathroom with bath and walk-in shower and another with a wet room with shower chair. That was a large area, for sitting with the small table. The king size bed was comfortable, and the room was 90% perfect. The only downside was that the bed wasn’t lowered. Therefore I struggled to transfer out of my chair as it was quite a jump onto the level of the bed. This may be on me however I have come across the accessible rooms in other hotels, have the lowered bed to make getting in and out easy.

    Hotel suitable for wheelchair user

We stayed at the Kingsmills hotel for 2 nights for a special birthday. The room was well adapted for a wheelchair user, with a wet room and wide doorways. All areas were on the same level, including the lounge and private rooms booked for dinner. Food was good and staff were all friendly and helpful.
