Overview

This hotel is on Princess St and is great place to access the shops and tourist stops in Edinburgh. The view from the Restaurant of the Castle and the rest of the old Edinburgh Skyline is fantastic. There is not to much noise as the windows are designed to reduce this problem. The location of the hotel is near to the Scott Monument this gives you an idea of location.

Transport & Parking

4

There is no parking in this area however as the hotel is on Princes St there is a good bus service going along the street. There is also the tram system that runs between York St and the Airport. Waverly train stations is about 10 minutes walk away and the Edinburgh bus station about 15 to 20 minutes away.

Access

4.5

Considering this hotel is on Princes St they have done a good job on access there is a step at the front door however there is an assist button if you need help. They have a ramp that they can put down. There is a wheelchair lift to cover the 4 or 5 steps up to the entrance lobby. From this area you take any of the two lifts to the first floor reception area. This is the location of the restaurant and bar area as well.

Toilets

4

There is one accessible toilet on the first floor located next to the lifts. there is room for a carer to assist in this area if required. Access is via 2 doors. There was a red cord in this toilet but was tied up Red Cord card left

Staff

4.5

All of the staff made you very welcome and very helpful any time we meet them. Nothing was a problem if you ordered drinks at the bar they were happy to bring them to your table.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

There are a number of wheelchair accessible rooms in the hotel these are made up of double and twin bed. The room we had was fine with room for the chair to turn etc. The wet floor bathroom had a good fold down chair with arm rest in the shower. There were 2 red cords in the toilet and one in the bedroom area sadly these were tied up or I would have been happy to score them 5.

Photos

This was the red cord point in the bedroom area of our room.
