Overview

I spent a few hours in this museum. Easy to enter and get around. Not too much wait for a lift. Plenty to see that would spark many interests, space, dinosaurs, clothing, history of Scotland, technology and more. Loved the small wheelchair technology display.

Transport & Parking

Lots of issues in Edinburgh with dropped kerbs (non existent, too steep, not level and so in) so access was slightly more difficult because of that. At the entrance there’s a wheelchair accessible powered door by the revolving one. There were signs and brief descriptions to enable access around the museum. Lots of open areas and fairly easy to get around. The technology areas were more crowded which made it slightly more difficult but was still manageable. There were a few things not accessible to wheelchair users but nothing that made my visit less enjoyable. The gift shop wasn’t very accessible due to the displays. I didn’t try the cafes as I couldn’t see whether they offered options I could eat and looked less accessible due to all the tables.

Access

Lifts were large enough for a powerchair and person with you. There was seating around but not much. Lots of larger spaces and interactive displays.

Toilets

There was a changing places loo which was accessible via radar key. It was really clean and spacious enough. I didn’t check out other toilets as this was s great accessible space.
