Venue Description

The New Theatre is situated in the beautiful and historic City of Oxford on a site used for theatrical entertainment for almost 190 years. With a capacity of 1785, the theatre plays host to leading opera and ballet companies, contemporary dance, West End musicals and sell-out pop and rock concerts.

Accessibility

There is level access to the box office and main foyer on George Street. Front doors to the foyer and Box Office areas can be operated automatically by a push button. There are four wheelchair positions located at the rear of stalls with room for one companion to sit alongside. This area can be accessed by a lift. We also have an Induction Loop system for those who use hearing aids and headsets for those without. Please speak to the box office on arrival. Assistance dogs welcome. Please inform the venue at the time of booking so that provisions can be made in advance.

Accessible Performances

We work closely with the producers of shows to provide Audio Described (which usually include a Touch Tour), Signed, Captioned and Relaxed performances throughout the year. Toilets

We have one accessible toilet off the main foyer that can be used before the auditorium is opened. There is another toilet located to the right of the Stalls auditorium which will be available throughout the performance, during the interval and at the end of the performance. If you need assistance, please ask a member of staff.

Staff

We have a dedicated member of staff who will be there to discreetly provide assistance to those patrons who require it. If you would like assistance, please ask a member of staff on arrival and they will be able to introduce you to the Access Usher. The Access Usher will be on hand to assist you to your seat before the performance. If you would like anything from our bars or kiosks they will be more than happy to get these for you. The Access Usher will be available for assistance at the interval and the end of the performance or any time during the performance if needed.
