Overview

I have visited on numerous occasions in the past 6 months, in my wheelchair with a carer.

Transport & Parking

3.5

Lots of parking in Mill street at the back (main entrance) of theatre however these spaces fill up fast. There are 4 disabled parking spaces outside the entrance with level access to door. Blue badge holders can park free in all spaces on Mill Street. Non blue badge holders, check which car park you are in if paying, they are not all council owned. Usually 4 hours max daytime. If unable to park in Mill street there is a drop off zone outside theatre entrance which I have used when raining. Kinnoull Street car park is a multi storey car park nearby with disabled spaces on ground floor and level access to outside. Slight ramp down to Mill Street then level across road to theatre.

Access

5

Automatic door access but usually open or staffed during performance times. Fully level cafe and booking office. Two accessible toilets on ground floor (one beside ladies, one beside gents and lift). Lift to left of box office takes you up to bar, studio, circle and accessible toilets. Lift has "half" floors which means it opens on one side or the other. Staff available to help if required. Access to wheelchair seating in theatre is either through main stalls door (passed ladies toilets) or through side fire door, a staff member will assist you. I found fire doors too heavy to hold open so the main entrance was easier (ramp). Cafe/bar on level 1 are fully accessible and include a quiet library area (right of staircase). Access to Joan Knight studio is via lift (toilet up a half level) and through main entrance. Only issue I have experienced is that despite booking wheelchair plus companion space (twice) I have arrived to find there is no wheelchair space and front row seats need removed. The second time I simply insisted a staff member ensure it was ready before I entered the studio space. Wheelchair spaces are in front row once seats removed as rest is tiered seating.

Toilets

Plenty of accessible toilets available.

Staff

5

Always welcoming, helpful and if you ask for anything they are very accommodating. See above re studio, staff extremely apologetic and helpful although wheelchair space should have been already available. Staff in cafe I found a little slow and rude however I have only had lunch once. You order at counter then they bring to table. Bar staff friendly.
