Petworth House and Park

Afternoon visit to Petworth House in West Sussex. Very interesting stately home with lots of history, art work and architecture to view. Car park for the house has a number of disabled parking bays. The car park is about 450 metres from the house. There is an electric buggy service that can take wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties from the car park to the house through the gardens. Otherwise, the path is suitable for wheelchairs though there is an incline which some may find difficult. The house itself is wheelchair accessible, as is the servant's wing where there is also the shop and cafeteria. The cafeteria has outside tables as well as lift access to the internal dining area.

Petworth House is well worth a visit to view the art collection and parkland. The website is very useful and does advise you of the long walk/wheel from the carpark to the house. There is supposed to be a mobility vehicle between the carpark and the house but I did not see it during my 3 hour visit. Plenty of blue badge parking in the main car park, excellent disabled toilets and a cafe with a platform lift. You are also able to go around the 17th century house in a power wheelchair which is very unusual
