Excellent site with lovely country park

I am a disabled person. I have experience of challenges around: dexterity or coordination and moving around.

Excellent

We had a weekend break at this site in our motorhome and with the exception of horrendous wet and windy weather, which I won't hold against the site, we had a lovely time. We arrived after dark on Friday evening, later than intended, but the reception staff were really helpful and gave us a wide choice of pitches. An added bonus was that a pizza van was there (Friday evenings only) so we got a take away for dinner. Great quality pizza too!

Disabled Access In and Around

Excellent

All the public buildings are accessible and I found the service points easy too. Bins areas are clean and the toilets/showers are cleaned thoroughly each day. They close temporarily for cleaning (covid measures). I found the site extremely easy to move around. The paths are a good width and surface. Going from the site, there are public footpaths that follow the Trans Pennine Trail and others around the country park. These are all compressed gravel, muddy when wet but great with my mountain trike. All very dog friendly too, though in places they must be on lead.

Parking & Transport

Excellent

The site is just off the M1 at junction 29A. It was easy to find and no narrow entrances or anything. All very easy. The arrivals parking area is right outside reception and is completely flat. The roads around the site are all good quality asphalt. Pitches are mostly gravel.

Accessible Toilets

Excellent

I had a quick look but used my own facilities. They looked clean and spacious though.

Staff

Excellent

Staff couldn't do enough to help. They knew all the information we wanted, even about things like A-frames at entry points on the public footpaths.
