The Lochrin Belle is a 60ft wide-beam canal boat moored at Fountainbridge Green, near Viewforth and in front of Boroughmuir High School. The boat is fully accessible with a maximum passenger limit of 35 people. It can be hired as a venue for a private event or tickets can be purchased for one of our scheduled trips. View Edinburgh from a different perspective as you cruise out of the city along the Union Canal.

Disabled Access at Re-Union Canal Boats

Please note for getting onto the Lochrin Belle: there is no rail on our ramp (see photos), we usually have a person on one or both sides of the passenger to help them on board. For those using wheelchairs, please note that the ramp to board the stern / back deck is 64.5cm wide. The platform lift (only accessed after you have boarded the back deck via the ramp) is 84 cm wide, and is controlled by the person on the platform lift or their assistant, by pressing a button. With a ramp, platform lift and toilet facilities, Lochrin Belle is suitable for most passengers with reduced mobility.

Accessible parking at Re-Union Canal Boats

Please note that our canal boat is moored near Fountain Park dining and entertainment complex which offers parking and electric vehicle charging. However, you would need to check their website for prices and details. There is a lift from the car park levels, but then there is a level elevation to get from the complex to the boat. Public and on-street parking is available on Viewforth, alongside Boroughmuir High School, or Gibson Terrace, which also offers drop off options. The best, level, closest drop off (not parking) is on Bainfield Drive, next to Fountainbridge Green.

Transport nearby Re-Union Canal Boats

BUSES: Lothian Bus Numbers 1, 34 and 35 take you to the Fountain Park food and entertainment complex at the Dundee Street bus stop. You can reach the boat from this bus stop via Gibson Terrace, which is next to the Sainsbury’s local OR via a level (no steps but does incline up to the canal) pathway between Fettle Bike Repair on Dundee Street and Boroughmuir High School. Lothian Bus Numbers 10 and 27 take you to Gilmore Place, Tollcross area. Get off at Viewforth Bus stop and go along Viewforth (road), over the bridge where there is a ramp in front of Boroughmuir High School down to the canal and where the boats are moored.
