Ryde Town Council and Partners are delighted to offer a range of beach and sea equipment to make Ryde Beach more accessible to all. Our facilities include a beautiful boardwalk, a seasonal Changing Places unit, specialised sea and beach wheelchairs, and a convenient sand rollator - this equipment will be available to book online from 1st July - 30th August and is FREE to use. Accessibility

From the pavement, it's a level access onto the wooden boardwalk. Bays along the boardwalk allow users to rest and spend time on the beach without blocking the main pathway. There are two stretches: one on Harbour Beach (nearest the Marina) and one on North Walk, near the Lifeguard Station (next to the Big Kahuna Café). Due to the extreme tides we experience on Ryde seafront, it's worth noting that the boardwalks aren't designed to access the water. For those wanting to venture off the boardwalk, a range of sea and sand wheelchairs as well as a sand rollator are available to book online FREE of charge. Once booked, these can be collected from/returned to the Lifeguard Station on North Walk. Please note that bookings must be made a minimum of 24hours before use. Toilets

An accessible toilet is available in the Eastern Gardens Facilities. From 9th July and until the end of summer, we will be providing a temporary seasonal Changing Places unit. Although this will be slightly smaller than a permanent facility, it will include an adult-size changing bench, freestanding hoist system, toilet, washbasin etc. This will be located next to our Eastern Gardens Toilets, only meters away from the boardwalk on Ryde (Harbour) Beach.

Staff

Our Beachfront staff on Harbour Beach (Ryde Beach) can assist with the hire of deckchairs, sun loungers, parasols and wind-breaks. The Lifeguards, located on North Walk, will assist with the specialist equipment booked online.
