The Sheffield Tap is an independent brew pub located within the historic grounds of Sheffield Station. Housed in the beautifully restored Edwardian refreshment rooms and first class dining areas, the venue offers a unique atmosphere featuring original Grecian architecture, ornate plaster ceilings, and classic mahogany fixtures. Visitors can enjoy a wide selection of over 200 international craft beers and real ales, many of which are produced on-site by the Tapped Brew Company. It is a popular spot for commuters and locals alike to experience a live brew day or relax in the outdoor beer garden during warmer months.

The venue is situated on Platform 1B of Sheffield Station, which is a Category A access station providing step-free level access to the concourse and all platforms via lifts. Station facilities include accessible toilets located on the main concourse and various platforms, as well as an induction loop system at the ticket office. Accessible parking spaces are available within the station car park, and there is a designated drop-off point near the entrance. Tactile paving is also present throughout the station platform edges.

First Class. But...

I like pubs. I like reviewing pubs for this site. I think everyone should have access to pubs. However, I only review pubs if they are: a) good; b) accessible and, preferably, both. There's no point in posting on this site if they are not accessible is there? That is why the Sheffield Tap comes with a 'but' It's the perfect place to sluice the dust of the trail from your throat if you arrive at Sheffield by train as it is accessible from Platform 1. It is a lovely restoration of the old Edwardian dining rooms. I was first there on a weekday lunchtime and it was very quiet. I returned early Saturday afternoon and it was packed. There's loads of choices of drink for sale but most importantly for us it is pretty much on one level, the only proviso to that being I think some of the internal doors would be too narrow for powered chairs. For me, the main issue is the accessible toilet. The entrance is tucked away in the corner of one of the bars. It is accessible, yes, but if you are in a wheelchair you will struggle to get there past the tables and chairs. On the Saturday when it was busy I would have struggled to get there with my rollator. Luckily, I am ambulant with walking sticks and the 'normal, gents are very accessible.
