Toilets with person hoist

Visited with severally disabled person and it was good to find a toilet with hoist. A rare occurence in these parts. Shame only have one. Key for toilet from mall reception. Only bad point is could do with more disabled spaces as frequently full.

Disabled Access at Silverburn Shopping Centre

There is step-free access throughout the centre, all entrances are clearly marked and there is push pad doors at the majority of entrances. All levels from the multi-storey car park have lifts to allow access to the main mall.

Accessible parking at Silverburn Shopping Centre

Silverburn has over 200 disabled parking bays, clearly marked for use within the Multi-storey car park as well as the external surface car parks. All Silverburn parking has no time limit and are free to use. Tesco next to Silverburn also has a number of disabled bays, however, please note these are not owned by Silverburn and have a two hour limit.

Accessible toilets (Next to Marks and Spencer) This accessible toilet is located between Marks and Spencer and Claire's. This accessible toilet is approximately 15m (16yd 1ft) from the level 0 car park entrance. There is step-free access to the accessible toilet. There is pictorial, written text and ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’ signage on or near the toilet door. The door opens by sliding (Bi-Fold). The door is locked by a lever twist. The width of the accessible toilet opening is 116cm (3ft 10in). The dimensions of the accessible toilet are 170cm x 225cm (5ft 7in x 7ft 5in). The accessible toilet does not have an unobstructed minimum turning space of 150cm x 150cm. There is a lateral transfer space. The lateral transfer space is 104cm (3ft 5in). There is a sensor flush. There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side. There is a/are wall-mounted grab rail(s) available. As you face the toilet the wall-mounted grab rail(s) is/are on both sides. Disposal facilities are available in the toilet. The mirror is placed at a lower level or at an angle for ease of use.The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 47cm (1ft 7in). There is a wash basin. The height of the wash basin is 73cm (2ft 5in). The wash basin tap type is sensor. The height of the soap dispenser is 102cm.The height of the hand dryer is 110cm (3ft 7in). Changing Places (Next to Guest Services) The facility is in addition to standard and accessible toilets. There is level access to the facility. The facility surveyed is for the sole use of disabled people. You do need a key for the facility. The key is a radar key. The key can be obtained from the nearby information desk or cleaning staff. The door is locked by a locking handle. The door has a horizontal grab rail. The width of the door is 86cm (2ft 10in). The dimensions of the facility are 397cm x 296cm. The ceiling height is at a minimum of 2.4m. There is a clear 200cm x 180cm manoeuvring space in the facility. There is a toilet, changing bed and hoist present. The facility changing bench is wall mounted. The facility changing bench height is adjustable. The length of the facility changing bench is 188cm (6ft 2in). The facility hoist is powered overhead. The overhead hoist covers all areas in the cubicle. There is a shower unit with a detachable shower head. The shower head is height adjustable. The accessible toilet does have an unobstructed minimum turning space of 150cm x 150cm. There is a lateral transfer space. As you face the toilet pan the transfer space is on the right. The lateral transfer space is 156cm (5ft 1in). There is a flush on the transfer side. There is a spatula type lever flush. There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side. As you face the toilet the wall-mounted grab rail(s) is/are on both sides. There is a vertical wall-mounted grab rail on the transfer side. There is a horizontal wall-mounted grab rail on the opposite side of the seat to the transfer space. There is a/are female sanitary and nappy/incontinence items bin disposal units. The mirror is placed at a lower level or at an angle for ease of use. The toilet has a cistern. The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 48cm (1ft 7in). The wash basin and tap(s) can be reached from seated on the toilet. The wash basin is not placed higher than 74cm (2ft 5in). The height of the wash basin is 72cm (2ft 4in). There are vertical wall-mounted grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.The wash basin tap type is lever mixer. The height of the hand dryer is 86cm (2ft 10in). Baby changing facilities are located within the accessible toilet. There is a fixed baby change table available. The height of the baby change table is 88cm.

There is a Changing Places toilet, which includes an adult-size changing bench, toilet, sink and hoist.

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
