This Slim Chickens was on the top level of the Liverpool ONE complex, on the same level as Chavasse Park. There were two entrances to the restaurant, one that looked onto Chavasse Park and one from a walkway that went into the shopping area. Both of the entrances had heavy, manual doors to manage to get in and out, but staff were quick to help me. There were lots of tables and chairs to sit at, most of the chairs were moveable as you needed. There were a number of ways to order. There was a QR code on the table, however, this didn’t seem to do anything. There were some interactive screens that you could order from, or you could order at the lowered counter with a member of staff. If you were eating in, like I did, you could take a number sign from the interactive screens or a member of staff would give you one if you ordered with them. The staff would then bring your order to you. One of the drink options was a refillable drink that you could get from their drinks machine. This drinks machine was located on a counter that was a little bit high and was at an angle that made it a bit trickier to see, but I was still able to reach it okay from my wheelchair. A member of staff also offered to get a drink for me and even offered me a can of my preferred drink if that was easier for me. Service was quick and the staff were so incredibly helpful. There was also an accessible toilet available.

The two entrances to the restaurant had heavy double doors but staff were quick to help me with them. There were a number of ways to order your food. There was a QR code on the table that suggested you could order to the table. However, the QR code didn’t work for me. There were interactive screens that you could order from. You could take a number sign from the side of the screen and update the order with the number if you wanted to eat in. The last way to order was at a lowered counter with a member of staff, which is what I chose to do. The member of staff gave me a number sign so they could bring my food to me when it was ready. There was a drinks machine where you could choose your drink. It was a little bit high and the screen to choose the drink was angled upwards so it made it slightly trickier to see as a wheelchair user. But I did manage to use it without too much difficulty. A staff member did also offer to help me get my drink and even offered to bring me a can of my preferred drink if this was easier for me. There were lots of tables and chairs available. Most of the chairs were moveable as needed.

There is a Q-Park car park that is connected to the shopping centre. This is the Q-Park Liverpool ONE car park. According to their website, it has a total of 1900 parking spaces, with 81 accessible parking spaces and 31 EV charging bays. It has a height restriction of 2.10 metres, is open 24/7, and is a paid car park. The Liverpool ONE bus station is connected to the shopping centre as well and has a large number of bus and coach services available from it. The James Street Metro Station is around 600 metres away from the restaurant and about one kilometre away from Liverpool Lime Street Railway Station.

Accessible Toilets

There was an accessible toilet available inside the restaurant. It required a RADAR key to get in but it had also been left open slightly when I was there. There was no grab rail on the outside of the door and because the door opened outwards, it required you to insert your RADAR key, twist it and pull the door towards you to open it. On the inside, a handle tilted upwards to lock the door and you would be able to do this with a fist or elbow. The accessible toilet was fairly spacious. There was space for a right-side transfer and the transfer space was free from any bins or other obstructions. The emergency red cord was hanging between the door and the transfer area, so it might get in the way slightly for some. The toilet was located on the left of the room and had a height-adjustable grab rail, as well as a vertical grab rail next to it and a horizontal grab rail on the other side of the toilet below the toilet paper dispenser. There was no lid on the toilet but the cistern did provide some back support. The flush was a circular button that would have been too small to operate with a fist or elbow and it was mounted on the cistern. It was placed on the same side as the transfer area so you did not have to reach across the toilet to use it. In front of the toilet was a small sink with a single tap in the centre. The tap was manually operated and had a long handle which seemed like it could be operated with a fist or elbow. The tap twisted to control both the temperature and flow of the water. Above the sink was a manual soap dispenser and above that was a mirror that was too high to see from my wheelchair. There was a vertical grab rail on either side of the sink, and on the left of the sink was an automatic hand dryer. There was a baby-changing table available in here and a large bin for any waste. The red emergency cord was hanging freely when I arrived but I made sure to add a Euan’s Guide Red Cord Card to it before I left.

The staff were really incredible when I visited. They helped me with the doors without me having to ask, they offered help and even suggested alternatives they could offer in case they were more suitable for my needs.
