Excellent

The mills are the original 200 year old buildings and have been made as accessible as possible. There are interactive displays and staff on hand to give further information and help whenever needed. The whole site is on a hill but the interior of the buldings are flat and/or ramped. We were given a map showing the best accessible route when inside the buildings including where the lifts and toilets were.

Disabled Access In and Around

Excellent

At the entrance to the site, there is the original gatehouse with information which has been ramped for wheelchair access. The entrance to the mills themselves is flat and each floor of the mills is accessible by lift. The lifts are reasonably small but fitted my manual chair plus a carer quite easily. There is also seating on each floor. As these are original buildings, Historical Scotland have worked hard to make the site as accessible as possible. There was just one floor that was inaccessible which is used at times for exhibitions

Parking & Transport

Excellent

There are two designated blue badge parking spaces. The site is on a hill, sloping down towards the river

Accessible Toilets

Excellent

There are disabled toilets on each floor. Large enough to get my manual chair in and turn around. There were grab rails on each side. The toilsts do not require a RADAR key

Staff

Excellent

The staff are all volunteers and the gentleman I encountered normally worked in another area on a different site, yet was knowledgable, very pleasant and very helpful.
