Overview

I'd heard about the Foundling Museum but never found a reason to visit before - so glad we did - full of interesting information and exhibits ranging from the historical to the present day! You can tell a lot of thought has been put into disabled access at the museum too.

Transport & Parking

We went from Kings Cross - which is not too far away - and we had a lovely sunny stroll! Not sure what the accessible parking is like near the venue.

Access

Really good! It starts with a wide ramp at the entrance. There are lifts for all the different floors. Exhibits including ipads etc are at decent heights. And corridors are wide enough for people to pass by each other. The one area that was a little bit difficult to navigate was the "Tokens" area on the ground floor - but that was because it was busy in general. In the brochure we were given there was a map with the main exhibit areas and showing the accessible loos. Think they may also have wheelchair(s) for public use as I did see one near the entrance. I saw subtitles on video exhibits and there were also headphones for audio exhibits.

Toilets

Spacious and clean. From what I remember there were accessible loos on multiple floors.

Staff

Super helpful! Knowledgeable too. Think quite a few of them were volunteers and very enthusiastic with it!

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Definitely visit! I had no idea that that "Tokens" scheme existed in real life - think Orphan Annie when her parents leave the locket. It's fascinating to think that this continued until relatively recently and an insight into social issues at the time. So pleased I went and will definitely be recommending to other people.
