The Tower of London: Historic Royal Palaces

    About

The Tower Of London is a Royal Palace and Fortress that stands on the banks of the river Thames. Founded in 1066 by William the Conqueror, it has served as a palace, prison, royal mint, menagerie, armoury and treasury for hundreds of years. Today the Tower is home to the Crown Jewels, the Yeomen Warders and an unkindness of ravens that protect the fortress through folklore and legend. The Tower also serves as a popular visitor and tourist attraction. The Tower of London is cared for by Historic Royal Palaces on behalf of the Crown Estate. Our access statement: We welcome all visitors to the Tower of London and aim to make your day out successful and enjoyable. We are committed to improving access and facilities for disabled visitors.
