    Excellent facilities but hilly site

    I booked a couple of nights here to see how manageable it might be to motorhome alone - just me and my assistance dog. I did some research and noticed that the site has made a lot of provision for disabled visitors, and it is right next to Rother Valley Country Park, which I love hiking round in my mountain trike. So it seemed like a good choice. There were a couple of things I wondered about. One is the elsan point. This is usually tucked away in an inaccessible room, often with a step or two. However, here it is really accessible (see photo). The bins are usually another concern but again I could easily get into the bins area, even with my dog attached to my chair... and it was clean, so nothing lying around for her to eat.

    Waleswood in a Country park close to Gullivers Kingdom

    In my work capacity I went for a visit. The facilities were all new and to international standards even with left and right hook-ups... There are all the facilities you would expect including a beautifully constructed reception/cafe/restaurant with outside seating and a few things to keep the children happy - overlooking the 'lakes'... The site is just above Rother Valley Country Park where there are some water sports, bicycle hire and original stone buildings hosting a cafe, tiny shops, and and meeting rooms. The site is quiet but if you have younger children Gulliver's Valley is a short distance away (walk or drive)

    Disabled Access at Waleswood Caravan and Camping Park

    The Waleswood Caravan and Camping Park was built in 2019 with exceptional facilities. Our access guide with further information is available with further information and images https://www.accessibilityguides.org/content/waleswood-caravan-and-camping-park The site has numerous accessible showers and toilets, a family changing room with an adult sized rise and fall changing bed, accessible shower, accessible toilet, a bath (not accessible). A sensory garden has been installed with a wheelchair accessible bench for a quiet relaxation area surrounded by plants with wonderful aromas. There is a Team swing at the play area where an adult can join their child or a number of children from the same household can joint their sibling. There is a hearing loop in the reception / coffee shop building. There is level access to the reception building, shower / toilet block A and disabled parking bays outside the shower blocks. There are hardstanding and grass pitches all with electric hook up points There is a good free Wi-Fi connection on site. • There is level access from the main entrance to: – Reception and Licenced Coffee Shop – Laundry Room at Shower Block A – Bar area at the Reception and Licenced Coffee Shop Building – Reception Building Shop – Shower Blocks Accessible Toilets and Showers – Sensory Gardens – Pot Washing Area, Outdoor Play Area, Elsan Point, Service Areas, Motorhome Service Point

    There are disabled parking bays near reception and the two shower blocks. There is space for you to park your vehicle on your pitch. (if staying on the tent field and it is exceptionally wet you may be asked to park your vehicle at the parking bays near reception if this is a problem for you please contact the Team in advance of your stay to let them know).

    There are accessible toilets and showers at both shower blocks. All these facilities have handrails and different transfer spaces left right and front transfer, please see our access guide for more details. https://www.accessibilityguides.org/content/waleswood-caravan-and-camping-park Shower Block A has an accessible family room with an adult sized rise and fall changing bed, an accessible toilet, an accessible shower and a bath (The bath is not accessible) All the accessible rooms can be used by anyone on site. There are male and female shower sections in each shower block also with family sized shower rooms and cubicles, lower sink areas, baby changing and washing cubicles.
