Overview

The pavement outside the pub is narrow, cobbled and has steep curb drops, but the manual double doors that mark the main entrance of the pub are wide and often propped open in good weather. The tables and benches both inside the pub and on the terrace are tightly packed, making it tricky to move between tables, particularly at peak times. The long benches do not leave flexibility to make wheelchair spaces as needed. The majority of the seating is either upstairs, or down two steep steps, with no lift or ramps available. The toilets are upstairs. The bar is high up, and the volume of the music only adds to the difficulty in communicating with the staff.

Transport & Parking

There is a nearby car park with some disabled parking bays, and some suitable areas for taxis to drop off wheelchair users. There are no nearby bus stops, and the train station is approximately half a mile away. Pedestrian access is somewhat complicated due to the number of car parks and bridges over the canal, with some steep areas. Those who know the area will find it significantly easier to navigate around.

Only a limited area is accessible from a wheelchair.

Toilets

I couldn't see any toilets on the ground floor in the accessible area, but it was busy so I may have missed something.

Staff

The staff appear friendly if somewhat ignorant about accommodating wheelchairs, probably because there are multiple accessible pubs in the city centre, with more car parks, trains, and buses nearby, limiting the number of wheelchair users among their clientele.
