Located in the heart of the capital opposite Apsley House, Wellington Arch is one of London’s most iconic monuments. It’s crowned by the largest bronze sculpture in Europe: the Angel of Peace descending on the Chariot of War.

Climb up to the arch’s balconies and you’ll get panoramic views over central London. Time your visit right, and you can see the Household Cavalry passing beneath, as they ride to and from the Changing of the Guard at Horse Guards Parade.

Within the arch, you’ll discover displays revealing its fascinating story. On the second floor, you’ll find a display about the Royal Regiment of Artillery, 1914-1918. On the top two floors you can enjoy changing displays of contemporary art from the Vigo Gallery.

Disabled Access at Wellington Arch

Wellington Arch is accessible to visitors with limited mobility, with step-free access to all public floors via a lift from the ground floor. Limited seating is available on the third and fourth floors for visitors who may need to rest. Please note that the the Arch contains a spiral staircase with 65 steps. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site.

Pre-booking is not required for drop off/pick up only. Limited, free parking is available for disabled visitors at our sister site, Apsley House which is just a five-minute walk from Wellington Arch. It is essential to book parking in advance at 0207 499 5676.

Transport nearby Wellington Arch

London Underground Hyde Park Corner Station (Piccadilly Line) is the closest Underground station to Wellington Arch. While the station has escalators between street and platform level, it is not step-free. Access to and from the platforms requires the use of stairs, making the station unsuitable for wheelchair users and some visitors with limited mobility. Green Park Station (Piccadilly, Victoria and Jubilee Lines) is located just one stop away (about 15 minute walk) on the Piccadilly Line and offers full step-free access via lifts between street and platform level. National Rail London Victoria Station is the nearest National Rail station to Wellington Arch. Both the National Rail terminal and the Underground station provide step-free access, with lifts available between street, concourse and platform levels.
