1 reviewWicken Fen National Nature Reserve was the first nature reserve owned by the National Trust when it bought an initial 2 acres of land way back in 1899. The nature reserve is a unique remnant of un-drained fenland, which once covered the vast lowlands of East Anglia. The reserve has over 9000 recorded species including rarities such as hen harriers, bittern, numerous dragonflies, moths & wildfowl. The reserve can be explored on foot, bike or boat. The Wicken Fen Vision , is an ambitious landscape scale conservation project to extend the existing nature reserve over an area of 53 sq Km from Wicken Fen to the outskirts of Cambridge.
