    About

A Jacobean-style house with gardens and a watermill and a passion for tradition and impressing guests inspired one man to transform a run-down country house and desolate landscape into the estate as you see it today. Inside the house, you’ll find fine furnishings, books, paintings, silver and rare clocks that give a feeling of opulence. Outside, 114 acres offer vibrant colour, delicious scents and the simple pleasures of nature, throughout the year. Anglesey Abbey is full of adventures waiting to happen. Hoe Fen is great for children of all ages to have a wild adventure. Reach new heights with a trip to the top floor of the treehouse, or test your agility with our new scramble climber. There's plenty to do if you're looking to get stuck into nature: from den building to scavenger hunting, the possibilities are endless!

Beautiful gardens and a great accessible walk

We visited Anglesey Abbey on the first day of the Snowdrop Tours, so it was packed! Once we were parked and through the visitor centre though, it didn't feel too busy and the winter gardens were spectacular and the smells - divine! We had lunch in the outdoor area of the restaurant and then did the trail marked in orange on the map, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This was one of our best days out in a very long time.

    National Trust House and Gardens

The Abbey is owned by the National Trust and has both formal and informal gardens. The downstairs of the house is accessible via a ramp. The staff are very helpful and when you collect your ticket you will not be surprised to see a wheelchair user. I congratulated her on the access and she said she had put her stamp on it. There are three accessible toilets however if you are a full time wheelchair user then one near the shop is the best. It does not include a changing places toilet but there is plenty of room. All the gardens are accessible. The cafe wasn't open but the "pop up" refreshment stand was excellent and was renewed every 20 mins. Prices were not too bad and a good variety of sandwiches and cakes. There was even a jazz band on the day we visited.
