March Review Round Up

This month we’ve a really exciting selection of reviews to share with the Euan’s Guide community. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a review and share your experience of disabled access - we couldn’t do what we do without the help and support of our community.
Things to see and do
Hitwo0 sent in a review of Thorpe farm centre in Barnard Castle. She gave her visit five stars and spoke about the accessibility of the centre and the farm shop. ‘Lots of different dining spaces internally and externally, with a child friendly dining/play area. Dog friendly areas. Wonderful accessible gift and farm shop.’
Shona1980 who is a new reviewer had a great night with her family and friends, seeing a comedy show at the Millenium Forum in Londonderry. Shona mentions how helpful the staff were in showing her to her seats. She also comments on how easy it is to move around thanks to clear signage and staff being on hand to help.
Thank you so much for your first review. We can’t wait to hear about the next show!
Exploring the outdoors
Kms8404 wrote their first review on Euan’s Guide after visiting Edinburgh for the first time, offering thanks to Linda, the tour guide from Mercat tours. Kms8404 wanted to thank Linda for the way she looked after and encouraged the group but also for her in-depth knowledge of the city.
Thank you very much for sharing your first review on Euan’s Guide. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed visiting Edinburgh for the first time and we can't wait to see where are you review next!
Sarah has also been out and about exploring the Colinton Tunnel mural and says that this is a great way to spend an afternoon out with family and friends. She mentions the accessibility of the tunnel as an outdoor walk. ‘Apart from the small slope that you have to negotiate from the car park down to the pathway the attraction was extremely accessible.’
Travelling on the road
Zandy who is the new reviewer has been out and about travelling and did their first review of Cambridge services. They comment particularly on the accessibility inside the services and the accessibility of the toilets. ‘We were travelling north and the services were at the start of the A14 (when joining from the M11’ ‘there was a central/round dining area and then all the eateries and shops were on the outside of this central area. This made moving about easy, with plenty of open spaces.’ This sounds like a great place to stop off for a break on a long journey.
Many other reviewers find reviews of transport hubs very useful when planning their journeys to different parts of the UK. Thank you Zandy for your review!
Accessible Shopping in Dundee
EoghanM is a regular visitor to the Overgate Centre in Dundee and spoke about the accessibility of the shops in the centre, as well as the accessible parking. They also made some recommendations for improvement in staff training around accessibility, and the size of the accessible toilets. ‘Level access to all shops, there are some difficult slopes to one ortwo shops on the top floor that my manual chair with powered trike attachment can just about do with a small run up, as it slides on the smooth floor.’
Cafes and restaurants
Ij gave his visit to Hot Tody a five star rating. He mentioned in his review the high quality of the food and the availability of accessible parking slightly further away from the restaurant. ‘Went for brunch - nice inside, plants everywhere, food quite high quality.”
WheelyP sent in a review of his visit to Delish Deli and kitchen in Romsey. It’s an older style building, which makes accessibility slightly more uneven at the entrance but overall, he enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and stunning food displays. ‘The place was busy and felt really relaxed, the food looked stunning and the displays made me want to eat everything. I think I would quite like to sit outside on the street and watch the world go by.’
Granny63 visited Dunbar Garden Centre and shared her experiences in a review. Firstly, she mentions that the garden centre is very accessible with wide aisles and helpful and accommodating staff on hand to help customers. She spent some time having lunch in the café and commented on the delicious food and cakes that were available. The location of the garden centre also seems ideal as it is just off the A1, so whether you are travelling north to Scotland or south of England, this would be a great place to stop. ‘Lovely sandwiches and some hot food on offer. The lentil soup is soooo good.
Staff will bring the food to your table.’
Alan2878 reviewed Barolo Grill and recommend the restaurant for good accessibility and good food to anyone in the central Glasgow area. He mentions the layout of the restaurant and the helpfulness of the staff as well. ‘Entrance is step free and wide enough for manual and power chair. Tables are combo of booths and moveable chairs. Able to fit underneath table using manual chair. Accessible toilet in the back with plenty of room to move.’
Our review of the Month goes to Barolo Grill in Glasgow! Thanks to Alan2876 for sharing his experience after visiting for a bite to eat. The restaurant seems in a good central location with great access for anyone who fancies a meal with friends and family in Glasgow.
