Argaty Red Kite Project

Lerrocks Farm, Doune, FK16 6EJ, United Kingdom | 01786 841373 | Website

Venue Description

At Argaty Red Kites, Central Scotland's only Red Kite feeding station, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacle of these acrobatic birds as they dive and swwop for the little bit of food we put out each day. There is always a ranger on hand at the afternoon feeding time to tell you about the reintroduction project, the stories of the birds and to birdwatch with you. These are wild birds so depending on the time of year we have varying numbers - autumn and winter time is the best for seeing large groups, nesting season can show fewer birds but for a longer feeding spectacle. Bring a camera and enjoy photographing them from the purpose built hide. We have wheelchair friendly access and special wheelchair height slots in the hide as well as a disabled access toilet. we can also offer a lift to the hide for thos with walking difficulties but we need notice of this so that we can make the visit run as smoothly as possible. We appreciate it if visitors pre-book so that we can give advice on access and make sure we are ready with whatever help is needed.

Accessibility

The path to the hide is about 400m up a gently sloping path. Electric wheelchairs manage this easily, hand pushed ones also but these can be a little difficult in wet weather when the path can be a little soft. We have special wheelchair height viewing slots in the hide and there is plenty of room for wheelchair manouvres in the hide itself. we also have a disabled access toilet.

Toilets

Easy turn taps, cord to pull to summon help, no steps involved and enough space for a wheelchair with hand rials too.
