Overview

We had a lovely day at Botanical Gardens. The sun was shining and it was lovely to explore all the hidden gems around the gardens. We took a community group of 110 which included disabled children, young people and their families. As it was the school holidays there was lots to do for the children from a meet and greet with Dinosaurs, to crafts and hourly shows available on the lawn. This was a real highlight for the children! There was plenty for everyone to do. In case of rain there is a huge marquee on the grounds with ample picnic tables and access for wheelchairs.

Transport & Parking

There are ample disabled parking spaces available with a blue badge, staff are really helpful to support with this also. Botanical Gardens isnt far from the main city centre and is quite accessible by bus and train.

Access

There's a path that wheelchairs can follow around the gardens and a ramp to gain access to the greenhouses. The Marquee area is well matted which enables access for wheelchairs for a covered space in case of rain.

Staff

As a large group the staff at the gardens were super helpful and organised. Rachel from the Gardens was waiting for our group , with a warm welcome. She let everyone know what to do and what they can expect throughout the day, this was super helpful as it ensured we didn't miss anything! There were other staff members around the gardens through the day making sure everyone was ok.
