Brighton Palace Pier

Brighton Pier is exactly what you would expect most UK seaside piers to be! It is a long pier with wooden slat flooring. It has a large arcade in the centre, at the very end is a small amusement park with rides, there’s a restaurant and in between all of them are lots of smaller shops and food vendors. It cost £1 to enter the pier and then everything else on there were additional costs. I found the pier mostly okay to navigate in my wheelchair. Sometimes the wooden flooring felt wobblier in some places compared to others which made me a bit nervous. The slats were laid horizontally so when I was rolling up and down the pier I had no issues with my wheels. However, at one point when I was admiring the view, I turned to the side and one of my back wheels momentarily fell into the gap between two slats. It was very easy to remove myself and I wasn’t in any danger of falling but it was still a bit disconcerting. There was lots of seating available up and down the pier and it was a really lovely spot to admire the coast and enjoy the sea breeze.
