Craven Museum is a family friendly, accessible museum located in Skipton Town Hall. It tells the story of the Craven area through a varied collection of geology, archaeology, costume, social history and more. Our Exhibition Gallery also shows a changing programme of exhibitions from local and national artists and crafts people. We showcase community projects and our museum collection. Entrance is free to Craven Museum and the Exhibition Gallery.

Really welcoming, accessible museum!

Craven Museum is a museum that tells you all about the history of Skipton, like Skipton Mill and the history of Craven. It also has Roman artefacts, a Tour De Yorkshire display and caving equipment. They also have an art gallery in which topics change every 3 months. It's a small museum, really accessible and very welcoming, it's incredibly engaging, informative and very interesting to look around at everything, we all had a great time.

Disabled Access Information Provided by Craven Museum

Disabled Access at Craven Museum

All areas of Skipton Town Hall have level access, including Craven Museum. The Exhibition Gallery is accessible via a platform lift to the right of the Museum entrance. There is ramped access to the building at our side entrance on Jerry Croft, with power assisted doors. The front entrance has 5 steps with a handrail. Our Visitor Centre desk has low-level counter.

Accessible parking at Craven Museum

High Street Car Park is situated behind Skipton Town Hall. It offers short stay parking (up to 4 hours), toilet facilities including RADAR accessible toilet, two electric vehicle rapid charge points and disabled parking spaces (up to 9 hours). Blue Badge Holders must pay for a ticket on arrival, which will then allow for an additional hour on top of the usual time, and an extra 30 minutes in pop-and-shop spaces.

Toilets features at Craven Museum

The main toilets are on the ground floor to the right hand side of the Visitor Centre Desk. There are two accessible toilets throughout the building, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. All accessible toilets have a functional emergency alarm and wall mounted rails. We have a Changing Places toilet that is located next to the rear Stage Door entrance on the ground floor. It has a height adjustable adult sized changing bench, a tracking hoist system and adequate space in the changing area for the person with additional needs and up to two carers. The toilet can be accessed by asking a member of staff.

There is a Changing Places toilet, which includes an adult-size changing bench, toilet, sink and hoist.

Accessible toilet

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
