Overview

The only wheelchair accessible lodge is lovely and comfortable for family gatherings however there are no lowered work surfaces in the kitchen which is fine if you use a chair and don't like / want to cook. The downstairs bedroom is comfortable but the plush carpet makes using any mobility equipment awkward. The ground floor bathroom is nice but the walk in shower has a tray so you would have to be able to step in. The lodge is set in beautiful surroundings and there is a small children's play area opposite. The hotel is 20 mins walk away and the path through the wood is a cinder path so not useable by chairs. We found the hill too steep to manage in my husband's manual chair without additional help. The free bookable hotel transport is not wheelchair accessible.

Didn't have much contact as in self catering accommodation but I spoke to reception staff who didn't appear to appreciate my enquiry about wheelchair accessible transport. No welcome call as info stated and despite checking with reception the freewheel bus was not accessible which left my husband feeling a little upset, particularly as the staff member asked if he could get out his chair which he felt was quite insensitive. I gave feedback by email and received a pleasant email back assuring me issues would be looked at. We might try the hotel next time.
