We are one of the country's oldest museums with an amazingly varied collection to discover. The museum is a treasure house of the region's stories, packed with archaeology, natural history, geology and local history.

Disabled Access Information Provided by Dumfries Museum

Disabled Access at Dumfries Museum

We have level access to the ground floor of the museum. The front double doors open by a push pad. There is a standard lift, (not platform type), to the first floor.

Accessible parking at Dumfries Museum

The museum has two dedicated parking spaces for disabled visitors. These are on the museum premises, close to the main door, located through the main car park.

Toilets features at Dumfries Museum

The door to our accessible toilet door is only 800mm clearance, so larger wheelchairs may not be able to fit through. There are grab rails and an alarm cord hanging correctly. The locks and taps are easy turn. The toilet paper dispenser may be difficult for some people to use and although the sink is within reach when sitting on the toilet, the paper towels for hand drying are not further away. We are working on improving these facilities.
