Overview
I flew from Edinburgh to Dublin on Friday 25 July 2025. It was really a test flight to see how everything worked. This was my first flight for 11 years and my first with a folding powerchair. We flew in and out of Dublin on the same day. I checked in with Passenger Assistance and said we'd meet someone at the gate to help me on the plane. Although we had checked in online, I had to check my wheelchair in to get it tagged. Someone came to get me at the gate. I stayed in my powerchair right up until I was in the ambilift, when I transferred into an aisle chair. They took me right to my seat on the plane. When we arrived in Dublin there was someone waiting to help me off and my wheelchair was there too. On the return journey things were the same. We booked our flight with Ryanair, told them I was flying with a wheelchair, they emailed a form, asking for details of the chair and they did everything. I didn't have to contact anyone else. I was really nervous and this experience left me feeling confident to fly again.
Transport & Parking
The airport is well served by public transport by bus and tram. They also have loads of parking options. We took the number 17 Lothian bus from outside our house directly to the airport. It only takes 20 minutes.
Access
Accessibility in and around the airport is great. There is clear signage and lots of accessible toilets
Toilets
There are lots of really good, well signposted, accessible toilets
Staff
All staff we met were really friendly and helpful. The passenger assistance team were brilliant
