Heartlands is a regenerated former mining site it Pool, Cornwall. Just two minutes from the A30. Set amongst the 19 acre site you will find one of the largest free adventure playgrounds in the South West, acres of open green space, five beautiful Diaspora Gardens, the unique Red River Cafe, a collection of small local businesses, our free World Heritage Site Gateway exhibitions and a wonderful venue for conferences, weddings and events.

Access Review

Heartlands has achieved many things when you consider how old and industrious it is. I grew up in the village of Pool and know that it was a working tin mine for more than 300 years. As children we saw the men go over and work the mine. It was part of every day life here. I never thought that in my lifetime it would be anything else. Nowadays as you can see it's a rustic attraction and I make great use of it all year round. All the shops are accessible as is the cafe and the toilets are more than adequate. However if you're in need of a hoist I wouldn't know if they have one or not. But their refreshments are ansum as we Cornish say (this means very good!)

Disabled Access at Heartlands

The site is a friendly one for our disabled visitors. There are pathways around the site which are regularly swept clear. Automatic doors on all of the public buildings, Lifts in our two storey buildings. We have disabled toilet facilties including a changing places facility. There is plenty of parking for our disabled visitors with a number of wheelchairs and mobility scooters available on loan/

There are several diasabled parking areas, the most easily accessible is accessed via Fordh an Bal.

The toilets are open and available during normal site opening hours of 11am - 4pm.

Changing Places toilet

There is a Changing Places toilet, which includes an adult-size changing bench, toilet, sink and hoist.

Accessible toilet

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
