Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre

The disabled access to this hotel is via a lane at the back of the hotel. This access is via a cobbled street, approx 75 metres long, which was very painful. The lane is unlit at night, and has a very steep camber as you approach the entrance. At night, to access the hotel you need to use an intercom, which is out of the reach of a wheelchair user, I was lucky my companion was able to reach it. The disabled access route was not signposted from the front of the hotel. Movement within the hotel uses a variety of standard lifts and individual wheelchair lifts, and there are heavy fire doors to use to progress. Breakfast was another poor disabled access in that hot food was served on the upper floor accessed by two lifts, but the continental breakfast was on the ground floor.
