London Victoria Railway and Underground Station

The toilet here is locked on a Radar and is normally as clean as station toilets get. They have a changing places but ever single time I’ve visited the station it’s out of action, I asked a member of staff if it’s ever available and she replied that it’s currently being cleaned, but why does it have an out of order sign up every single time! The disabled toilet is locked on a radar and has audio description. The main toilets are down 2 flights of stairs so those who don’t have Radar keys have a big struggle. Security do have keys but there’s no sign to tell people that. I met one man who was really struggling with the stairs, and was unaware you could ask for it to be unlocked,

Victoria Station is one of London’s largest and busiest railway stations with a total of 19 platforms. There are a number of ways in and out of the station leading to different areas around it. It’s based in Westminster and is within walking distance of some popular theatres and even Buckingham Palace. The station is large and it can be slightly confusing to navigate and find where you need to go. There are two main areas within the station and there are information hubs in the centre of both of them. So it was really easy to find staff. The overhead signage was also helpful but because there are so many platforms, shops, entrances and even toilets, it can be quite confusing to navigate the station, even with the overhead signage.

I arrived and departed Victoria Underground Station via the Victoria line. The Underground lines are connected to the main railway station, with lots of signage about how to travel between the different areas. Because the station is so large, it can be confusing to work out where to go at times and there is sometimes quite a long way to go. For example, it was a fairly long wheel for me to get from the Victoria line platforms to the main part of the railway station. The Victoria line provides step-free boarding and disembarking, without the need of a boarding ramp. There is a raised section on both Victoria line platforms, which is where the step-free access to the trains are available and this will be the same part of the train that will have step-free access at the other stations along the line that offer it. I was able to disembark and board really easily thanks to the step-free sections of the Victoria line platforms. I was able to navigate the station well as the signage was clear and I'd manage to time my travel when the station wasn't too busy which made it much easier to navigate!
