    Excellent

Nice pleasant terminal with good facilities, and boarding was quite easy as we are disabled people, so used our own wheelchair for boarding and then around the ship. The terminal staff were all very kind and helpful, and staff pushed our wheelchair right onto the ship for us, which was a great help. Getting through customs was quite easy and quick as staff took care of us, so the experience wasn’t too bad. Takes time, but the excitement kept us going. Weather not to good, but mixed and enjoyed the sail away party on top deck. Exciting start to our break on QE11, but hunger soon called us indoors so we went to the Lido restaurant for lunch, and what a pleasant buffet lunch it was, lots of of choice, very tasty dishes nicely laid out, and although not many areas with seating for disabled, staff helped us settle in nicely. After lunch we went up to our cabin, which we found most comfortable. It was not an accessible cabin, but quite roomy, and place to keep wheelchair out of the way, facilities in bathroom were very good, as we both are able to stand and walk a few steps on our own, so the cabin suited us well. Relaxed the rest of the day, before retiring at night.

    Disabled Access In and Around

    Good

The ship is step free so that disabled wheelchairs and scooters may gain easy access almost everywhere. Sadly, not many doors are automatic, and some areas do have a slight ramp, but nothing to worry about. The lifts offer easy access, restaurants provide seating areas for either your chair, or staff will take chair off you and escort you to your table. It’s best to tell them you are disabled with a chair, when you first book your cruise. Plenty of seating areas in the bars, and the shows provide special seating areas for chairs with a seat for your companion right next to you ( if fellow healthy guests obey the instructions )

Accessible facilities: Lift to all areas, Step-free entrance, Step-free access to most areas

Over the years we have enjoyed (62 cruises) so quite experienced now, and we felt we wanted to help you think about cruising, which we feel is one of the best way to holiday for disabled people. Queen Elizabeth is one of our favourites, thus the review of 6 parts we offer you, so although a few years ago when we took this particular cruise, the standard of this ship has not altered, and is as good as it has always been. Now, it will be even better following a recent 2025 refurbishment, so do enjoy reading our 6 reviews of the ship.
